Missed the flight, caught the story

Security line ate forty minutes. Boarding closed. I sat on the floor with a cold sandwich and photographed the gate screen showing DELAYED then DEPARTED without me. The rebooked dawn flight had empty seats and a window over the Western Ghats. Proof that the worst travel days still leave a receipt — and sometimes a better seat.
